Our evolving safety Culture – 1,895,313 reasons to continue!!
Anyone can write a safety program, but it takes real commitment from all of us here at Western Camp Services to create and implement a complete safety culture. The goal of developing a safety culture is to instill the qualities that motivate all of us to strive to achieve safety excellence, and that can only be developed if we all work together. Just as a group is only as strong as its weakest member, our team is only as safe as the least-concerned member. A strong safety culture creates an environment in which every one of us is personally committed to our own safety as well as the safety of each of our colleagues. A real safety culture is a complete change in attitude and becomes part of the individual’s lifestyle and daily habits, whether at home or at work.
Our safety culture was not created overnight and it is always changing – sometimes we take a few steps forward and sometimes we take a step or two sideways. Looking back over the past six years and speaking with some of our long term Employees, we soon realize how much we have changed and grown for the better. We continue to learn from our successes and from our mistakes, making the necessary changes over time to make all of our worksites a safer place to be.
So some of you by now are probably wondering – what’s up with the 1,895,313 reasons to continue? To answer the question – From January 2011 to June 2016 we’ve worked 1,895,313 hours without a Lost Time Recordable Injury!! This is a huge accomplishment for all of us and a heartfelt Thank You goes out to everyone who helped us achieve this goal!!!
